The short version. The Relatably tools run in your browser. You do not need an account, the text and images you create stay on your device unless you choose to share or publish them, we do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your creations to train AI models.

Who we are and what this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Relatably ("Relatably", "we", "us") handles information when you use our website and the creative tools on it, including the Quote Maker and the Meme Generator. It applies to this website only. It does not apply to third party websites you reach through links we provide.
By using the site, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Information we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. Most of what you do happens on your own device. Here is the full picture.
| Category | What it is | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Editor content | Text and images you add inside a tool | Your browser only |
| Local storage | Drafts and saved settings you choose to keep | Your browser only |
| Usage analytics | Pages viewed, general device and browser type, approximate region | Aggregated, not tied to your identity |
| Contact messages | Name, email, and message you send through our form | Our support inbox |
| Server logs | IP address and request data kept briefly for security | Short term server logs |
We do not ask you to create an account to use the basic tools, and we do not collect special categories of data such as health or financial information.
How we use information
- To run the tools and remember the drafts and settings you choose to save.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand which pages help people so we can improve them.
- To answer your questions and handle copyright or legal requests.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content you create in the editors to train machine learning models.
Legal bases for processing (for users in the EEA and UK)
Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on these legal bases:
- Legitimate interests to run, secure, and improve the site.
- Consent where we ask for it, such as optional analytics. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation where we must keep or disclose data to comply with the law.
Cookies and similar technology
We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries. Strictly necessary items keep the site working and remember your drafts. We may use privacy friendly analytics to count visits. We avoid third party advertising trackers. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings.
How we share information
We share information only in limited ways:
- With service providers who host the site or provide analytics, under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- To comply with the law, a court order, or a valid legal request.
- To protect the rights, safety, and property of Relatably, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a merger, sale, or transfer of assets, where the receiving party agrees to honor this policy.
We never sell your personal data, and we do not share your editor content with anyone unless you choose to publish or share it.
Data retention
We keep data only as long as needed. Editor content and drafts stay in your browser until you clear them. Server logs are kept for a short period for security. Contact messages are kept while we handle your request and for a reasonable time afterward.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in California, you may have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information.
To exercise any right, contact us through the contact page. We will respond within the time the law requires. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
International data transfers
We may process data in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards required by law.
Children's privacy
Relatably is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard for responding to it, so we do not currently respond to these signals, but we keep tracking to a minimum regardless.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
